I so am sorry, it has been way too long since this page has been updated!
I have been trying to get all of the pages caught up. There is also a Facebook page called Support Hanna Darden, that is up dated more frequently.
First and for most, I AM STILL HERE! Praise the LORD! :)
I am not only surviving but I am thriving, and living everyday :)
Let me try to catch you all up on what has been going on.
At the end of last year, My Dr at MD Anderson decided to send me a radiation oncologist, since we did not get the response we wanted from TDM1 aka Kadcyla.
I underwent 6 weeks of radiation, staying M-F in Houston and going home for the the weekends and also got to spend Christmas as home. I finished treatment in late January. After scans we learned that the treatment area had improved, my skin mets appeared outside of the area and I had 2 lesions in my brain. After a successful Gamma Knife procedure, I began and continue to participate in a Phase 1 trail.
Blake and I celebrated our 7th anniversary on July 14, and Hunter starts Kindergarden in a few weeks. Time flys! Addison will be for 4 in November! Hard to believe this has all been going on for almost 3 years!
This summer, I have been fitting a lot of family time between treatments. I actually got a little break from treatment ( to get a root canal :-/ LOL) but I still enjoyed the extra time at home.
I am back at MD Anderson getting treatment, and all of my scans came back Stable! :) thank you Jesus! Praying for improvement as this treatment continues.
I want to thank you all so much for your; prayer, love, support, kind words and thoughts. I am so blessed! Love y'all
Wanted to give everyone a quick update. I am currently undergoing Chemo and tolerating it pretty well. I will return to MD Anderson at the end of April to reassess with scans and figure out what the next steps in the game plan. We have had an exciting last 5 months getting settled into the new house, celebrating the holidays and birthdays for Addison, Hunter, and Blake. Thank you ALL so much for the prayers and support! We are still holding out for my complete Healing and now that through God all things are possible! Love to all and God Bless your kind hearts.
The Dr's came in today & decided that Hanna is a rockstar & she is going home today!!!! She is being discharged & her parents are taking her home to see her hubby & precious babies!!!! Way to go Hanna! You are definately a rockstar!!!!!!
Hanna and her Dad walking around MD Anderson!!! Yes this is the day after surgery!!!! After being cleared by the Dr and physical therapist, Hanna was dressed and encouraged to be up and out of bed moving around today! Sitting up to eat meal
s, and had to follow lots of directions! They had her find areas in the hospital, take left and right turns remember lists of things to look for and do!
From the looks of it Hanna will be leaving the hospital Sunday! To go home and recover until her next appointment on October 17th! Her recovery restrictions are no bending, no lifting more than 5 lbs, and no driving for 2 weeks. She will spend the next 12 days taking it very easy but otherwise resuming and continuing her normal activities! God is good! I am so amazed at how well she is doing so quickly! Keep praying!!

Surgery was a success! Thank you Jesus!! Hanna's surgery lasted about 4 hours. Dr. Prabhu said the surgery was a complete success! He was able to remove the entire tumor! Testing of the tumor confirmed it was it was Inflammatory Breast Cancer that had spread to her brain. Hanna will be recovering at MD Anderson over the weekend. Over the next week, Hanna's team of Drs will begin planning and starting radiation treatment. There is a waiting period necessary after any radiation treatment but Hanna will be able to start back on Chemotherapy in a few weeks. Hanna's battle is still on going, but with the Tumor gone she is can now continue her fight with IBC! Thank you all so much for you prayers, love , and support!
Update 10/3 Hanna met with her neurosurgeon again this afternoon. The new scans show that swelling is down and feel that surgery to remove the tumor is the best option. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7am. Great news is that they feel GammaKnife radiation, not whole brain can be used and this will speed up Hanna's return to Chemotherapy. We will update as we hear news from MD Anderson tomorrow.
After seeing the neurosurgeon today, we learned the scans taken on September 11 show Hanna has a 2.5 cm tumor on the left back side of her brain. The Dr wants to do another scan & work Pre op tests on Wednesday (10/3). Pending the new MRI, surgery to remove the tumor is scheduled for Thursday (10/4). We will know more after Wednesday afternoon when Hanna revisits her Neurosurgeon. Thank you SO much for all of your love & support! Please continue to pray & Expect a Miracle!!!
Thank you everyone for the support! Please keep sharing this page!
Quick update on Hanna- Her appointment has been scheduled to see the Neurosurgeon Monday October 1st at MD Anderson. After this appointment her surgery and further treatment will be scheduled quickly after. From what we understand, everything will move very quickly, so surgery could be early next week. We will continue to update as we learn more. Please continue to Pray for Hanna and her family and as always EXPECT A MIRACLE! We are trusting and believing in God's promises and healing.
November 1, 2011 Hanna Darden was diagnosed with Stage IV Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Hanna has been in treatment locally and in cooperation with MD Anderson's Morgan Welch Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Clinic. We learned this last week that it has spread to her brain and she is needing to travel to Houston this next week for immediate brain surgery and then to begin brain raditation treatment.
