Save DeWitt Theatre

Donation protected
The historic DeWitt theatre is about to be destroyed by Placer County and Costco unless enough funds are raised to make the necessary repairs to the electrical system and upgrade the restrooms.   The building has been inspected and found to be structurally sound.  The construction is estimated at $350,000.   Costco has agreed to delay demolishing the theatre and turning it into 42 parking spaces if our non-profit organization can raise a significant part of the repair funds and maintain the building.

The 230 seat theatre was constructed in 1943 as a USO theatre for the wounded troops at the army hospital in Auburn, California and  famous Hollywood stars performed on its' stage.   In later years it became a movie theatre and a venue for live theatre.  It is in walking distance of three elementary schools and senior facilities.  It is currently serving as a cultural center for the visual and performing arts for special needs children, seniors, theatrical, dance, vocal, and instrumental students.

Our 501 (c) (3) non profit organization EIN 68-0466149 is seeking sizeable grants and donations to save the historic theatre for Auburn and the children and adults  of all ages in Placer County.

We need your help!  Please donate.  Our time to raise the money is running out.  We have raised $17,000 but are trying to raise another $15,000 by Christmas.
