For 25 years, a little non-profit organization in Guelph Ontario has been growing incredible musical talent, one child at a time. Linda Beaupré, a choral conductor with a passion for musical education, started this organization in 1991.
Over the next 22 years Linda grew this little non-profit into a national award-winning choir that relied on the generosity of its donors to continue. Now under the talented direction of Markus Howard, this choir has sparked the creative musical flame of thousands of children in Guelph and surrounding communities. These children have gone on to teach music, to lead church choirs, to play in the orchestra, to belong to the theatre, to play in a band or produce music, but most of all they have all gone on to support music in their own communities – these children are still singing.
On its 25th Anniversary, Guelph Youth Singers needs help to give a beautiful gift BACK to Linda Beaupré in the form of a commissioned song called “Grow.” This touching song has been written for youth choir by a young female Canadian composer, Sarah Quartel, and promises to become a gem of Canadian choral repertoire.
We are asking for your help to pay for this commission – both out of respect for the time and work of the composer and for magnitude of the devotion of the recipient, Linda Beaupré.
