Grey Havens Symposium Fund

The Grey Havens Group  is a network of book discussion groups that also inspires and supports its members in creativity, scholarship and community service. We are raising money for our 2015 symposium, Real Myth and Mithril: Delving into Fantasy Literature, April 25 and 26 in Niwot, Colorado. Real Myth will be a collaboration between the Grey Havens Group and its young adult chapter, Grey Havens YA . It will feature keynote speakers, Dr. Jeffrey Taylor and Dr. Leslie Taylor.

Both keynote speakers are published scholars working in the fields of mythopoeic literature and Tolkien studies. Other special guests include popular weird fiction author, Stant Litore , Tolkien scholar and Pawnee historian, Roger Echo-Hawk along with many other scholars and writers. Real Myth is also an opportunity to encourage those who might not think of themselves as scholarly by giving them a safe place to try out their ideas about fantasy, science fiction, myth, gaming and fan culture.
To help us make this event all it can be, we are asking for funds to cover part of the venue rental, a multimedia projector and screen as well as small honorariums for guest speakers. We would like this conference to launch a year of panel discussions, podcasts and other activities related to our group's mission.

The Grey Havens Group and Grey Havens YA will be able to use the projector and screen for future outreach events that will benefit the community for years to come. Funds raised at the Real Myth Symposium will be applied to obtaining 501C3 status so that our group will become eligible for grants to further our mission of literacy, imagination and community.

Giving to our Symposium Fund is an easy way to have a lasting postive impact on a growing organization that will have lifelong meaning to multiple generations of readers, writers and thinkers worldwide.
