Fund2Elect Tipperary's 1st Green TD

Donation protected
Hello.
I have accepted an invitation by Tipperary Greens to stand in the upcoming general election. We are seeking support from friends and supporters to finance the campaign.
(As an ordinary citizen, I have no funding to run the campaign, apart from what I can raise myself. The Green Party is not funded from the public purse. Contributions must be personal, not corporate.)
WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THIS?!
Over the past number of years I've been working as a community worker in Tipperary. Through this I've become aware of the potential of the "energy transition" to transform Ireland's economy.
Ireland spends €6 billion per year on imported energy.
The average small Irish community of 1000 people spends €1 million per year - just on home energy. Cutting this waste, investing in energy efficiency and switching to energy produced in Ireland will create jobs and farm diversification opportunities, especially in parts of Ireland outside the cities, as well as helping meet our climate change targets.

I want to use the upcoming election to campaign on this and other issues - more information is available on the campaign blog: www.gfitzgibbon.wordpress.com

BUT
- aren't T.D.s overpaid?
Yes. If elected, I will give 35% of the TD's €87,358 salary to the Citizens Information Service, largely underfunded and underpaid. We should stop wasting taxpayers money paying for the local constituency offices - where information is traded for votes.

BUT
- don't TDs ignore the electorate after getting elected?
Yes. If elected we will create a local recall mechanism, to make your green politician answerable to you. I'm also endorsing the Reinstate 48 campaign www.reinstate48.ie

BUT
- the Greens? Greens are an internationalist party, promoting policies based on science and the bigger picture. LIke many others I was disappointed by and critical of  what happened during the last government.  The Banking Inquiry has shown that solutions were not as simple as populist parties might be suggesting.  Greens in Ireland are rebuilding  from the grassroots. With the challenges of climate change and resource depletion, there has never been a greater need to promote the opportunities offered by the green economy.

HOW WILL I SPEND YOUR MONEY?
To do this I want to raise €3600. This money will be used as follows:
150 - Phone/communications
200 - Room Rental (for meetings)
350 - Printing/Photocopying
150 - Online advertising
500 - Flyers/Leaflets (5K)
1000 - Letters to electors
1250 - Posters 150 @ 7 euro each

All contributions are accepted. Thanks for reading this anyway. If you can't contribute, but woudl like to help out in other ways, please get in touch through the blog, email, facebook, or call me on [phone redacted]023.
