Grease and a Bible a pastor, a bike

Grease & A Bible is a small business out of Dayton, Ohio. I emphasis the word SMALL. One man in a garage...that's me. I buy and sell "man-cave suitable" merchandise, repair and customize motorcycles and deal in parts. I also happen to pastor a church, Basore Road Grace Brethren Church.

In my experience I've noticed a disturbing tread again and again. Men have become increasingly passive when it comes to parenting, home repair and really life. Men's hands continue to get softer and the very idea of DIY is a foreign concept. I'm not suggesting that all men must be macho supermen, but come on guys...learn how to change your oil.

You add this problem of passivity, with the ever present reality of unemployment, or under-employment, and you have yourself a real problem. So rather than sit on my hands and complain about it, I thought I'd do what I can to help.

I would like to take my small business to the next level and create a place where men can go to be mentored, trained in skills and empowered to be strong fathers, respectable men, and active in the lives of their families.

So what's the plan? My garage is pretty small, and to do the things I'm thinking of I will need space. So, I am going to become mobile. Currently I act as a sales consultant, I also sell motorcycle parts and other "man-cave" items on the internet. But I would like to take my show on the road. I'll need a 12' enclosed trailer and some other odds and ends so that I can travel to flea markets and other outdoor venues like races and tractor-pulls.

I plan on taking men with me. Men who are floundering and need some guidance. I (along with a team) will train them in new skills, but more importantly I will spend a great deal of time investing in them personally. Eventually empowering them to start a business of their own, or maybe even just to  actually start becoming the MAN of the house.

Imagine a place where men would not shrink away from the challenges of adulthood, and take responsibility for their families. While I may have a difficult time doing this, I have to start somewhere. Eventually I would like to grow Grease & A Bible into a "Brick and Mortar" store where we could handle more merchandise and there would be more opportunity for employment and mentoring. Ideally I would like to become a "third place" for the men in the community.

Years ago men would have three places that they spent the majority of their time. (One) their homes, (Two) their jobs and then the third place was a barber shop, a garage or some other place where men would gather for mutual encouragement and comrade.  This is my ultimate goal, but the road will be long, and I need your help. Men, need your help. Please consider becoming a backer.
