Stronger Wings: Long Flight Ahead!

Folks,
We've made it through the roughest time of a start-up's existence- the dreaded first quarter.  During that time, I cannot count the miracles I've seen, and like a lotus, miracles often arise from the muck.  No- this has not been easy, at all. No, I'm not a businessman. But I lead from the heart, and so do the great staff who serve with me.

Guys are saying the greatest things about their experiences here:

"Thanks so much to Jay Joslin and everyone at Firebird for providing me the much needed support to make changes in my life. Honestly, don't know if I could of done this anywhere else."
- C, Member

"Firebird is my most progressive experience in rehabilitation. An understanding approach with a stern backbone to support recovery. It proves you can have fun while maintaining something as serious as your sobriety."
- J, Member

And so are their parents:

“I’ve seen my son grow and mature, become more engaged with life and his self-esteem has risen. And he has embraced a sober life-style... Nothing is more important to me than my son’s wellbeing and I believe wholeheartedly that he is in the right program with the right people. I see the transformation taking place and I am hopeful for the future!”
– ND, Mother

“My son came to Firebird Transformations sober, but unsure of himself and with atrophied life skills. Jay and his staff were instrumental in restoring his confidence and independent living abilities. My son is still sober and continues to work on those skills”
- CY, Father

Can you imagine how that feels? It gives me goosebumps/pimples (depends on where you're from) when I hear what we've been able to do. And you see that "we" right? That's what this is all about. When I present about Firebird, I talk about the "invisible glue of Brotherhood" that makes this recovery process work, and man, does it ever. Because of that I'm busy crystallizing everything we do by writing our curriculum, "The FURTHER Model."

Our Master Blacksmith and Lodge Director Brian Toole has the forge running and red hot iron blazing away. Lucian Siedler has launched our new Microenterprise Program, and Legacy Trading is teaching our guys how to resourcefully sell what others leave behind- a business artform called "arbitrage," which pays them a living wage for their efforts. And, with great joy we've hired on Andrew Burdette CSAC-I, whose depth of academic experience is unparalleled, including a NASA internship for neurofeedback! Including our Activity Director Brian Claflin and Intensive Recovery Guide Jeff Thompson, we are blessed to have such a great team.

Here's what we also have- transparency, and with our situation. In business terms, we're in the "hockeystick:" we've spent all of our capital reserves so we can have a solid Program, and here's where that gets tested. For 99% good reasons, we've had transitions. Ours has all came at once, and with some hefty bills related to transition of the property to go with it. Keep in mind that we're not only a start-up, we're a startup out of necessity, not the entrepreneurial go get 'em! I never in a million years dreamed- or wanted to dream- that I'd be a CEO. Shiver me timbers, but there you have it. We need your support.

Why? Two primary objectives loom. The first and foremost is to get us through the "hockeystick." Any amount will do, quite literally anything, because we are in the midst of providing a broad array of services that are creating life-transforming results, as you read above. We have some whalloping one time only bills to pay, and if you'd like to know what they are, we're happy to open our books- leading to our secondary need. We believe the model we will succeed the most in, especially when it comes to reaching out to the populations that need it most, it the Non-Profir Organization model (501-c3). We are beginning the process of transforming ASAP, which takes in fact a long time, and about half of what we're asking... which is really a conservative number from what I hear. Yet I believe in miracles and know in the bottom of my heart and the hearts of these men that we'll get what we need, if not more- but NOT without your help. This is our most critical point as a business- it's do-or-die time, and if you know me, it's all about doing.

Not because of what we get back, but because of what has been done for us, and the enlarging of that potential when we pass it on.

To Transformation, and Beyond!
