God's Kitchen Building Fund

God's Kitchen - Battle Creek, a faith-based nonprofit  corporation, is attempting to raise $1.5 million to build a permanent soup kitchen in the downtown area. With your tax-deductible donation, we will continue to combat hunger in our community by serving hearty and nutritious dinners for low-income, elderly, disable and homeless citizens.

About Us: God's Kitchen - Battle Creek is the Cereal City's first and only evening soup kitchen serving free meals five nights a week. Incorporated on January 20, 2011, our faith- based charity began serving meals on October 11, 2011 at First Baptist Church. Since that time, more than 87,000 dinners have been served to low-income children, families, individuals, the homeless, disabled and senior citizens. In 2012, our soup kitchen received a Congressional Certificate of Recognition for our efforts to "feed the hungry and senior citizens."

The Problem: Growing pangs, coupled with scheduling conflicts to use a church kitchen and dining room five nights a week, have caused a community crisis. As a consequence, many of our dinner guests are suffering from malnutrition due to service cuts. Our free dinner program has been reduced to one day a week.

The Solution: God needs a new kitchen. By acquiring a permanent facility to call home, God's Kitchen - Battle Creek will no longer endure conflicts to feed the hungry in our community. A new building will be constructed downtown to address the weekly nutritional needs of homeless and hungry citizens. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, more than 60 percent of Battle Creek's impovershed residents live near the downtown business corridor. This is the perfect location to combat hunger.
