We must change our floor and sound system before the summer of 2015. We have been holding our classes with a system that keeps going down on us and the floor is lifting as it should have been replaced 5 years ago.
Goddess Store & Studio (W.O.M.A.N.) was established in 2002. It's a mini cultural community center offering a world of movement arts , poetry, art & holistic practices. Besides our world dance, yoga and drum classes, we provide our community many FREE cultural events each month. We offer FREE poetry circle, art exhibits, open mics, African Village night, reiki healing circles and more.
We have volunteered at many non-profit places with our performances, dance & drum classes, and poetry. We also give dance scholarships to dancers that are currently having financial challenges. We have produced and hosted many fundraisers for the artist in our community when they were in need and ill and could not work.
This is the first time we are fundraising for the studio so that we can continue to nurture & support our artist who bring this world so much joy.
We are currently the oldest business in Downtown Hollywood's Harrison St. and we have managed to survive with no grants or capital from outside sources.
I own the studio by myself and through the years I personally invested all I own including my home and all my savings.It's going to be 13 years and I love what I do more and more each day. I would do it all over again without even a second thought. I use to be CPA but in my soul I'm a dancer and an artist so this is really a blessing and I'm extremely proud of myself for having the courage to follow my dream. I know that I am serving my higher calling, I feel great and I'm so very blessed with great health, youthfulness, energy and joy.
This is my Mission to bring you world dance, yoga, art, poetry, music and support you my community of artist and entrepreneurs. And also bring you the benefits of balance and creativity into your life which in turn bring You great health, youthfulness, energy and joy.
The community at Goddess Studio embrace their artist within and build lifetime bonds with each other. We have a very diversified group of women and men. Our variety of artistic & holistic programs bring the balance they seek into their lives. In addition, our boutique also supports our community as 99% of our products are one-of-a-kind and made by a local artist.
In the last six years, since the recession it has been very challenging to keep Goddess Studio going and only my pure love to serve, my determination and the love of some of my students and teachers keep us moving forward. I have no employees. Some of my students and teachers assist me with cleaning, filing and events.
It's a loving community and you can be part of it by donating what you can.
The Lowest cost Studio Sound System is $1,600 and a New dance Floor which would be good for Flamenco is approximetely $6,000. The additional $2400 will be used for Fixing A/C , new window signs, outdoor speakers, indoor bulletins and painting.
