Help A Stray Get Some Vet Care

Donation protected
On October 31st, my girlfriend was heading to an appointment, when she overheard a loud wailing over her music. She took out her earbuds and found a poor, cold, and starving cat. The cat came right up to her without hesitation, and was almost demanding attention.

After making my girlfriend late for her appointment, the cat went back to its corner and waited. Needless to say, I got a call from her shortly after to tell me about the poor thing. We decided to go back and make sure it had some food later that evening. She was thrilled to have kibble in her and she just devoured it.

The alley she was found in (with another cat).

We knew that it was important to keep an eye on this cat that was in such a sad state, so we both agreed to go back the next day to bring it some wet food, and there she was... starving and shaking.

We ran into a woman there on her phone, and we wanted to ask her what she may have known about the cat. It turns out that she was just a passerby, and wanted to help the poor thing out as well. She had contacted the city to see what could be done, but there was nothing that could directly be done without taking them ourselves to the Humane Society and we thanked her for her time.

Missing fur and scabs on her back

This was the first real chance we could get good close-up photos of her, to document the pain she must be going through. She was skinny, and shaking like a leaf, huddled in a ball, trying to keep warm. She recognized us. The look in her eyes filled with hope since she knew we brought food, and she trotted right over to devour it.

Eating some dry food.

She is gorgeous. A stunning domestic short haired tortoiseshell -who was sweet and very loving right from the start- got left in the cold. Poor girl.

We couldn't stand to see her in this condition, so I ran home and picked up our cat carrier and got back as fast as I could so we could get her immediate vet attention.

She needed a thorough examination. We wanted to check if she was microchipped, or if she was spayed, and what kind of care she would need, as well as seeing if she could have FIV/FeLV.

As of right now, she is getting blood work done and cultures are being made to see if the scabs on her back are ringworm related or not. She had ear mites that had to be cleaned out, and got a shot of revolution for the chance of fleas. There are currently no signs of FIV/FeLV, but we will get that checked out again at a later time to be positive.

She looks to be about 1.5 years old, but is very petite and malnourished from a young age which makes her look a lot smaller.

Back at home, in isolation from the other two cats in the apartment.

She just wants to be loved and cared for.

This is why I need some help. I am just starting a new job and I don't have to funds to cover and continue treatment for her. She still needs to get all her shots and we also need to get her spayed. At the same time, we are taking a hit from the cost of litter, food and care.

Please help us get this sweetheart taken care of so we can get her into a proper furever home.

Here are some recent photos of Piper.
