Support Jasmine\'s Volunteer Adventure in Kenya!
Hi everyone!
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel overseas
and volunteer for a Women's Education program in Kenya this June for a whole
month! When this opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance to be a part of
something bigger than myself. In my twenty-three years of life I have NEVER left U.S. soil
and I thought what better a way to explore and travel the world for the first
time EVER than through volunteering. This trip means more than anything to me because
I literally have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a whole other culture
and lifestyle and help others at the same time.
The organization I will be working through is International
Volunteer Headquarters (http://www.volunteerhq.org/volunteer-in-kenya.html)
which has a lot of amazing programs to choose from and I am vey passionate about
helping others so when I saw the women's education program I knew it was what I
had to do. In Kenya, lots of young women do not have the resources for sanitary
supplies or have a general lack of knowledge and misunderstanding of the
natural process within their bodies: we
will be helping to educate them on hygiene, AIDS, sex, and many other things we
have had the privilege of learning in our schools. I'll also be helping in the
orphanage giving love and support to the children who desperately deserve and
need it.
IVHQ is a great program with competitive prices but
unfortunately, things start to add up with flights, visas, vaccines, insurance etc.
and I want to be able to spend most of the money I have worked hard to save up on buying supplies, food,
water, or anything needed for the women and children in the program and my host
family. I've been given so much in my life and I'm so grateful and I just want
to be able to do the same for so many others who deserve it. So with your
support and generosity, I can make this dream a reality. Every dollar donated is one step
closer to helping. Once the costs for the trip are met, any money donated after
will go straight towards supplies and food for the women and children. Hopefully with your support, I will even be able to write a check to the organization orphanage program in Kenya. So
the more money donated the better! No amount is too small or too large. Think
of this, a drink at Starbucks cost around $5 instead of having that drink today
your money could go towards making a change. I really want to make a difference by paying
it forward and you can help be a part of that.
I will make sure to let the children and women know it was the help and
support from my friends and family that made this possible.
Thank you for your support!
Love,
Jasmine
