Send Three Indian Girls to School

Donation protected
I’m looking for donors to support the schooling of three Indian girls who live in Rajasthan, India. I’ve expanded the sponsor network and managed to cover the education costs of the girls each year since 2011. I’d be really happy, if you joined us to keep the girls at school this year too.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TOTAL AMOUNT NEEDED FOR THIS YEAR IS AROUND £950. The total amount on this website is higher because it includes the amount collected last year through the website. I want to keep it included so that if I exceed the limit of £900 in donations, the GoFundMe website will start advertising my campaign.

The target  of £950 for this year covers everything for three girls for one year, including tuition fees, admission, books, extra classes, transport, uniforms and shoes. Hence, education for one girl costs only 86p/day.

Neelam is the oldest daughter at the age of 9, followed by Simran, 7, and Radjini, 5. They also have a toddler-aged sister Khushi. Their father is a shoe polisher, so the family is in a very disadvantaged position in the society. Mother Nitu looks after their home. They also had a sister Kamal who passed away as a baby in 2013.

Going to school is a privilege for these girls, especially when most other kids in the neighbourhood don’t have that opportunity. Perhaps that’s why the girls enjoy going to school so much. The girls have been sent to an English and Hindi speaking private school because state schools are usually not that good in India. For example, 70% of 5th grade students in Rajasthan's state schools couldn’t read a text that had been designed for 3rd grade pupils (ASER Centre, 2013, Annual Status of Education Report (Rural). New Delhi: ACER Centre).

Providing good quality education for these girls will probably prevent them and the subsequent generations from falling into a similar cycle of poverty as their illiterate parents have suffered from throughout their lives. Being females in a male-dominated society, having a disadvantaged socio-economic background and suffering from occasional malnourishment and long-term undernutrition, educating these three girls would be true development aid at its best.

Donations can be made easily with a card payment. The process is the same as last year. I send the money to Nitu through Western Union money transfer service. I then create a list of all donors and attach receipts here, or you can request it directly from me. If you’d like to set up a direct debit with a small amount every month, please contact me to get the bank details. I’ve set up a separate account for the girls.

I’m happy to answer to any of your questions!  :)

Thank you for supporting the girls!
