Help Us Move!
Donation protected
Bill spent his life bringing music and theater to audiences around the country. But now he has Alzheimer's disease and congestive heart failure. We've been living in a rental home in the suburbs. It's too big and too expensive. And most importantly, it's too isolated for Bill. I've had to spend most of my time at home with him, caring for him. I'm glad to do it. But taking care of Bill and his lack of pension (arts don't pay in cash benefits) has left us in a precarious position financially. After three years of waiting lists, we have finally found an "affordable" one bedroom apartment in North Portland.
What we need is help financing the move: money for a truck, boxes, etc.; downpayment and deposits for the new apartment and pet deposits our beagles;
fee forElla the Wonderdog to go live with our son (his apartment complex wants $300); funds to pay off our current landlord. Can you help? Any cash donation is greatly appreciated. Bill needs to be where he can see people, can walk around, can walk the beagles. Our new apartment is small but idealy situated - across the street from a small park in the front and Legacy hospital on the side; flats streets that lead to coffee shops, a grocer, etc. In short, it will allow Bill to connect with the world. And since it is so close to downtown and on bus lines, maybe some of his old friends from jazz days gone by will come to see him. Please help us move and connect. Thank you.
