Most children miss out of Early Childhood Education in Kenya due to poverty and inadequate government investment in Early Childhood Development and Education.
Existing kindergartens and primary schools in rural parts of Nakuru County of Kenya have poor standards that fail to even meet the Education Ministry's "Service Standard Guidelines". Many children in their formative years remain at home where they spend the day in the absence of their parents or guardians. In other cases, mothers are forced to stay at home to care for children and fail to earn an income. Others engage the children in chores on the farm or small scale business activities. This leads to a cycle of poverty and lack of access to opportunities for both mother and child.
Genesis Centre wants to reverse the trend and offer high quality ECD&E services to children living in poverty while enabling parents to focus on earning extra income for their already disadvantaged families. Qualifying families will be given support as the quality we plan to offer will also attract paying families able to pay for nursery care in line with the high standards set by the Ministry of Education.
To ensure good governance and accountability, the school will adopt a web-based school management system. That system alone will cost upwards of $1,500 for the software and other related costs.
