Bikes For Fire Victims

Donation protected
On the morning of October 14th, 2014 flames engulfed the mobile home of Jennifer Jimenez and her two young sons Jaylen and Alex. Tragically, Alex (age 2) was unable to make it out and passed away. Jennifer and other neighbors tried their best to fight their way into the burning home, but because the flames were too hot and the smoke too intense, they couldn't get inside to rescue Alex. Jennifer and her son Jaylen were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. Once fire fighters arrived, the roof had collapsed, making it nearly impossible to enter the home.  Alex and his family are beloved members of the Boulder Meadows Community.

A fundraising effort is underway for financial support, household items, furniture, food, and clothing. Here at Boulder Cycle Sport we are asking our customers to help us raise a mere $800 to purchase and replace three bikes that were destroyed in the fire, as well as helmets and locks. One bike will be for the Alex’s surviving 5-year-old brother Jaylen. The second will be the neighbor who rescued Jaylen, and attempted to rescue Alex. The bike, his only source of transportation, is used to commute for work every day. The third bike will be for a little girl who lived next door whose bike was also ruined in the fire. $800 will cover the cost of the bikes, helmet and locks. Any addtional funds will go to the family.
