We're having a crowd funding campaign looking to raise $10,000!!
For those of you who know me, you know over the past 9 nine years I have dedicated a large amount of my time to developing a youth program here in Ottawa called DILA (Day of Information for a Lifetime of Action). The program grew out of a one day conference I organized while in teachers college in 2006/2007. The sole goal I had in creating the project was to encourage and support youth in realizing the power they have to impact the world around them. We have grown by leaps and bounds over the years, and we now deliver an eight week program in grade 10 civics classes that supports students in taking action to make a positive change in our world. This past year we worked with over 1,600 students and supported over 40 youth lead action plans on everything from anti-bullying, to mental health, to homelessness in Ottawa. The results have been astounding.
Currently the demand for our program exceeds our capacity to deliver it; we had requests to be in over 50 high schools in September 2014 and were only able to accommodate 24. This is why you are receiving a message from me today. I, DILA, the school and youth we serve need additional funding to be able to meet the demands of our program.
We are currently facing a $10,000 budget shortfall so we are organizing a campaign. I am contributing $100 myself and already have 15 people signed up to do the same! But we need at least 75 more to get to where we need to go.
The money will go to offsetting the costs of our teams visiting schools in the Ottawa area (transportation, supplies and training).

I am asking you from the bottom of my heart to help support this program that I care so deeply about, we really need it. It will mean the world to me and have a direct impact on the lives of the youth in Ottawa.
