The Inspiring Art of Quilting

About the Curator:
My name is Leigh Dunnington-Jones. I am the Director of the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery located in the historic Stutz Arts and Business Center in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. We have been selected as a participant in the 2015 Spirit and Place Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana, which takes place November 6-15, 2015.
About the Event:
I write to you to ask for your sponsorship of our upcoming participation in Spirit and Place. The title of our winning project is: “The Inspiring Art of Quilting: Piecing Past and Present”. During the event, attendees will learn about the multicultural history of needlework and quilts in American tradition. They will see the progression of the art through displays of quilts from across the Midwest, along with interactive exhibits of both modern and historic quilting and fiber arts. We will hear speakers tell us of art and inspiration over decades of history that lead us to modern fiber art that is never intended to be worn or put on a bed. As part of this event, in the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery will be an invitational, modern fiber exhibit illustrating the trajectory of the art form, that now includes photo-transfer, resin, metals, and much more!
Where Your Donations are Going:
$3600 to expert quilt speakers and presentations
and the rest will go to setting up a line of exhibits to highlight the evolution of quilting and fiber arts.
