HELLO!
I'm Sara, the Midwest Outreach Coordinator for Define Depression. If you watched our video, you got the opportunity to learn about our organization and meet our founder, Jasper. If you didn't watch the video, here's a quick overview of our organization.
We believe that depression can come into anybody's life, regardless of age, race, sexuality, gender, class, etc.
We believe that there needs to be a space whereyoung survivors of depression can come together and talk about their experiences, their struggles, and their successes.
We believe that there is no "One Size Fits All"approach in regards to treatment of depression, and every individual’s experience is shaped bytheir background.
We believe that there needs to be a space where folks can share what they need help accessing and ultimately create more access to things that were not accessible before (ex. affordable work-outspaces, lists of inexpensive, LGBTQ+ friendly therapists)
We believe in building an inclusive community that supports and validates our experiences.
SOOOO... What are we going to do about this?
We are raising funds for our Leadership Committee (which is scattered across the country)to come together for a weekend in Albany, New York.
While there, we will be planning, team building, strategizing, and coordinating for the first Define Depression Conference. The conference will take place in the Spring of 2015.
This will be the only opportunity for the entire Leadership Committee to work together in person until the conference, so it is crucial we all make it to Albany and that’s where you come in! We need your help to get us there. Traveling across the country is expensive: a round trip train ticket from Chicago to Albany costs $200 and we don’t have enough money for that right now, so anything you can give will help us greatly and will be very much appreciated by the entire Define Depression Team.
