Chenae's Critical Fund

I am a 65 year old Registered Nurse (34 years),Artist with a recent MFA and lifetime of political and cultural activism.I am a week away from living in my car,Disabled, in poor health, with resources gone and all tools and belongings from basic to heirloom jumbled in expensive emergency packed storage for a year. I had done a rent to own contract with a friend of 50 years. That trust was violated and I have lived in one room with limited access to even basic cooking / hygiene. This culminated in a fall last week on the day that I was told must be gone by Oct. 26th. I knocked out out a few remaining teeth in lower jaw, reinsured a knee that needs surgery. I have other complex medical issues. I have been forced into early Social Security retirement that can not support basic needs. I am working with a Case Management friend to gain access for any help may receive, but the Gordian knot is going to take some time to untangle.
 I rarely post any personal problems on FB. But when I posted about my critical situation I received an out pouring of compassion and support. I am only posting here on the urging of a number of friends who have offered help. I try to take the personal to the political, and understand that what is happening to me is happening to many. At eighteen I was a single mother who helped organize National Welfare Rights. I try always to work forthe Good of the Commons. My deep commitment is to the Generations to come. We are all connected, that is what has helped us as a species and as individuals to survive. I wish to survive, to use my capacities, education and lifetime experience to help others. It is hard to ask in these times, when those in need are shamed.
 Out of Chaos I trying to turn this to a different story. I will be visiting a series of friends over the next few months and want to interview them and collect their stories, using my skills as an artist and writer to weave and share our larger story.I promise I will do my best to use what help you can give me to help others.
 I need funds for rent and deposits, moving costs,medical and dental . I am searching for a place that is safe given my health , to heal the mind and body, with creative space With your help I can do this… I am a person of strong will and passion. I have many possibilities and qualifications to increase income if I can get past this crossroads.

As you might see in my picture, I do have a comic side. Laughter is a strong tool to transform our stories. This Elder wil not consent to be road kill in this era of cruelty and greed. I have too many responsibilities to leave just yet.
