Rifles, Rails & History
Donation protected
RIFLES, RAILS & HISTORY is a Civil War period living encampment held annually on the banks of Lake Dora in historic downtown Tavares, Florida. Reenactors, historians, and educators gather for three days to provide event guests a glimpse into life during the War Between the States. The event includes raids on an authentic, original wood-burning 1907 steam engine, a parade down Main Street, a ladies fashion show, a cotillion, artillery demonstrations, skirmishes, medical demonstrations, a replica of the HL Hunley, and many other displays and exhibits and presentations. The event is educational in nature and is visited by many students from Lake County and the surrounding areas. This event is funded completely by sponsorships, donations, and grants, as there is no charge to participate or to attend.
