My name is Robert Martz and my roomate is Edward Young. We are both veterans, I was in the Air Force and edward was in the Army. we are both Vietnam era vets and we are both physically disabled and Edward is mentally disabled as a result of an auto accident in 2007 i am his caregiver and he is my stepson. My wife /his mother passed away in 2011 and her last wish was that i take care of him.
I became disabled in 2013 after i was terminated from my job of 13 years, i have applied for Social security disability but am currently over a year away from a decision on my appeal. i have been on State disability insurance for the past 2 years but that money has been exhausted as of last week. I am currently under treatment by the VA for PTSD and depression because my entire family has died in the past 5 years. i lost my father in 2007, best friend 2007 (also ed's wife), Mother 2008, my wife 2011 and stepmother in 2014. all i have left is my younger sister who suffers from the same condition i do (bad Back) and can not help us with our financial situation. All of ed's family is dead and all he has in life to care for him is me. he is on SSD but they take half of his money for back child support and the state pays me to take care of him but combined they dont cover the rent.
the hardest thing i have ever had to do was ask a stranger for help. i have been employed for 41 years and have strived to be able to care for myself but now i'm at the end of my rope. I served my county honorably and would do so again if i was in anyway able, i have never been on welfare and only on unemployment once in my life (just after i was terminated in 2013). our landlord has been very tolerant for the past 2 years and we have been 1 month behind for the past year but now were at the point where we cant pay it at all since all of my income has dried up and have considered taking a job even though i know i cant do it and would be terminated within a month. I am a security guard by occupation and have done so for 37 years. I get severe pain in my lower back if i stand for too long (30-45 mins) or walk too far (200-300 yards) which are 2 major componets of my occupation. I have had a heart attack, open heart surgery, diabetes, have had 4 stints placed in the past 2 years which is why i cant walk for very long.
I can guarantee that any donations received as a result of this page WILL be paid back when i win my Social security case. so if you donate please make sure to leave your name and a contact number so i can repay the donation. I have been told by my lawyer that i will win my case and at that point i will get a sizable settlement but we have to survive until april of 2016 but with our rent $1200 a month and my car payment $328.00 per month and other basic needs we just cant do it and neither one of us can be homeless. i have the option of placing ed into a state run home but we cant get welfare and i would rather be dead than homeless so as a bottom line if you can help us then i beg you to do so. if not then god bless you.
