Youth Empowerment Trip to Nicaragua!

I've been called to get out of my comfort zone and travel where I can help others. I have that everlasting itch to travel, to get out there and see and do things most people don't normally see within the confines of their comfortable homes. The experience of extending a helping hand, building a home for a family, purifying water sources, connecting with people, and simply just being uncomfortable will change me forever. I'd love to return with stories that I can't wait to share, and will be bringing my camera to document as much as I can.
UPDATE - March 10, 2014
The trip I will be taking is to Granada, Nicaragua through an organization called The Giving Lens. I will be in a group along with 10-12 others and have knowledgeable guides helping along the way. We will work hand-in-hand with some amazing young photographers all week long, learning their stories and helping them reach for their dreams. The total cost is $1850 not including airfare, approximately 50% of this cost goes to Empowerment International, another organization that houses our group and assists the children in need. EI's end goal is to break the poverty cycle by getting children into school, and inspiring them to stay in school with the help of this Photography movement.
I am so very excited to be going on this trip and anything will help as I'm single, have ongoing house payments/bills, and am working full time to try and fund this trip on my own. I figure if someone else believes in me or has experienced the positive effects of a volunteer trip they've taken, maybe they might be willing to help me meet a very special personal goal! Even just a little will go along way!
