Save WKXV AM 900 Radio

Donation protected
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization made up of individuals who are working diligently to save a beloved AM radio station that has been a fixture to the Knoxville community since 1953.

While other radio stations come and go, and change formats to follow the current trends, WKXV has been consistent in its format since 1953. WKXV is host to many different denominations among the various local and national religious/talk programs. Many of the locally produced programs are broadcast live from the WKXV studios, just as they were at the stations inception. Some are broadcast from their church via live remote or tape delayed. Whatever the method, thousands and thousands of people have listened to the Gospel in word and song over the WKXV airwaves, and will continue to do so.

WKXV Radio stands out from among the crowd of other stations in the Knoxville area. The staff of WKXV makes the difference. The WKXV staff is proud to be easily accessible to the many listeners of the station. WKXV hosts a Prayer time twice nightly and receives an estimated 300 or more song and prayer requests per night. WKXV keeps a weekly prayer list. Song requests and dedications are taken 24 hours a day and are played promptly.

The WKXV management, On-Air Personalities, and office staff are thought of as family to many of the faithful listening audience. WKXV remains an outreach to the lost and an uplift and blessing to the many Christian listeners. WKXV broadcasts community news, local church events, and other function several times daily.

The station pioneered a Religious Format here in East Tennessee. WKXV is locally owned and operated by Ratel Broadcasting Co. Inc., and operates on a daytime power of 1000 watts and late night power of 258 watts as authorized by the Federal Communications Commission in Washington D.C.  However, WKXV is not streaming on line and is listened to by so many people around the world on their iPhones, iPads, Blackberry's, Android Phones, Computers, and with any device that has an internet or data connection.

WKXV Radio began broadcasting February 14, 1953. WKXV broadcasts 50% Religious/Talk Programming and devotes the other 50% to Southern, Traditional, and Christian Country Gospel Music. WKXV broadcasts many nationally syndicated Religious programs as well as many locally produced programs produced by area churches, pastors and evangelists.

WKXVʼs trained engineers constantly maintain the station’s state of the art equipment to the manufacturer's specifications in the station’s office building and studios.  This constant care given the equipment has earned WKXV praise from consulting engineers, sponsors, and listeners.  The challenge is that building and equipment is becoming out of date and in need of repair and resuscitation.  The station has served us for so many years, it is time for us to serve them.  More than fifteen counties in East Tennessee can be reached daily with WKXV's strong signal. The population in the Primary coverage areas exceeds 800,000 persons with a median family income exceeding that of the national average.

Please help us raise money to save our station!
