Free Artwork for Mom's Funeral Fund

I am Michael Wang and I live in Los Angeles. I am fundraising for my parents to support their living, medical, caregiver and funeral fees.

My mother is very sick and will die soon, may be in a few months. I do not have any more money to help her living expenses, medical bills, caregiver and funeral cost. My dearest mother told me painfully on the phone that to let her die early if possible that she is suffering too much pain whenever she is awake and cannot bear anymore.  Her doctor had already asked us a few times to give up on her. It is time to prepare her departure to heaven but I have no more money for her funeral and cremation in Singapore. My credit cards are all max out and do not have enough to buy an air ticket to go there from Los Angeles.

She was not treated appropriately on the day she gave birth to me in the hospital during the China's Cultural Revolution 40+ years ago. There was no doctor working in the hospital, and the nurses did not know what to do. They helped the delivery of my birth after 10 hours of labor and then left my mom with no water, no food, and no other care for over 24 hours. My mother was understandably very stressed and worried. Since then, she started to suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure. 

I've been the only son to financially support all of my parents' living and medical expenses for many years. It costs me USD2,000 per month for the last 10 years even after insurance coverage. The hospital charges are additional costs. I end up with tens of thousands of credit card debt. I was layoff from the previous company for many months and just got a new job recently. I am living paycheck by paycheck and barely able to support my own family with 2 kids and mortgage.

My mother has diabetes for over 40 years. She has dialysis procedures for 14 years.  She injected insulin on her own and took 17 different medicines every day. 

Since 2001 when my mother took dialysis, she's started to lose her self-care skills, and has depended on wheelchairs.  She has been the victim of many kinds of serious diseases such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and so forth. She had pain all over her body daily through the years. She was once strong and able to bear all these pain, until she got older and weaker. 

Her hands have muscular dystrophy since 6 years ago. She said she wanted to chop off her hands because they were so painful every day.  My 80 years old father is the only person taking care of her in her daily life in Singapore. 

He is very tired everyday and suffers from pneumonia and back pains for many years. He can only stand up for a maximum of three hours each day, but he still tries to finish the day's tasks, more than a caregiver can do.

Can you imagine an 80 year old man, with poor health, pushing a wheelchair to take the bus and subway back and forth between the hospital and home for many hours, hoping he can save 40 dollars of taxi charges for his wife to have her medical treatments? He has to go grocery shopping, do the cooking, laundry, cleaning, and feed and clean my mother every day in the hope that she’ll feel better and more comfortable. 

He has been sleeping on the chair in the hospital visitor room every night for over two months so he can comfort my mother whenever she is awake and in pain. He only goes home to do laundry one or two times a week. He also walks with a cane or he will feel dizzy.

My dear parents had supported me in many ways all my life. They taught me right and wrong and raised me as a good man. They always gave me unconditional love. They worked two jobs and gave me their savings to support my college education in the US.

I feel guilty as I am living in heaven here now and they are living in hell, suffering.  I can choose to eat all kinds of tasty food here, but my mother cannot eat anything that is sweet, salty, spicy, or any types of food and ingredients that could threaten her life. For more than a decade now, she has not eaten regular meals or tasty food, candy and desserts, like what a normal person can enjoy.

I sincerely hope my parents can receive donations to support their lives, which will help my mother pay for medical treatment, funeral cost, my travel cost to Singapore for the funeral, hiring a caregiver before she dies and my parent living expenses. The hospital wants to stop intensive care and sent my mother home soon. But my father does not have any more strength to take care of her at home alone.

I am giving out digital and physical pieces of some of my innovative artwork for donations. All of my artwork were created before 1993.

Escher, it took me 5 years from ideas, troubleshooting to finish drawing each character in computer software to create a full set of the 3D surreal typeface in 1992. This is the first, the only and the last hand air brush piece that I did.

Below are some of my innovative photographic images I created in 1991 and they were exhibited in US, UK and Hong Kong. They are not computer generated images. I have a secret way to distort images optically and took the photos with non-digital camera in the year 1991.

I spend hours to print each image manually to adjust the colors with darkroom treatment in the photography lab at the Savannah College of Art and Design when I was a student there.

They are limited edition of 8 in. x 10 in. hand prints because I had only made a few copies of each 24 years ago and I reserve one copy for the higher donation. Then I will print more 8 in. by 10 in. copies by online photo printing company from a scan copy for the lower donation.

Free image 6: Rainbow Abstract

With my secret technique, I took a photo an object that the outcome is totally different from the original object. You will get 300 dpi high resolution image file with a $7 donation.  

I will mail the hand print 8 in. x 10 in. piece to whoever donates $450 and mail the commercial print 8 in. x 10 in. piece to whoever donate $40.

Free image 7: Nude Lady Abstract Photo

With my secret technique, I took a photo of a paid female model’s nude body and compose two of them together as a new abstract image. You will get 300 dpi high resolution image file with a $9 donation.

I will mail the hand print 8 in. x 16 in. piece to whoever donates $800 and mail the commercial print 8 in. x 16 in. piece to whoever donate $80.
