NO MORE DEATHS/NO MAS MUERTES

Hey Folks,
We are Finding Resources and Empowerment through Education (F.R.E.E.) de Humboldt State University and we strive to provide leadership by encouraging advocacy, values, customs that will lead to the continued recruitment, retention and graduation of low-income students. We do a lot of work with AB540 and Undocumented communties. We hope to make our institution, Humboldt State, one that is friendly to all students regardless of their immigration status. 

FREE believes in the importance of getting involved in our community and to use the privieldges that we have to help other folks. 

One of our organization members named Casey, looked into a programs, to explore other ways that we can help our compañer@s. She came accross the organization No More Deaths, 
No more deaths is an Arizona based organization whose mission is to end the horrible deaths and suffering  in the deserts of bordering Arizona and Mexico. No More Deaths works openly though community based morals that support the significant fundamental right as humans. The direct aid that extends the right to provide humanitarian assistance, Witnessing and responding, Consciousness raising, Global movement building, and encouraging humane immigration policy.


Casey introduced the idea to FREE, and after discussing we decided that this is something we want to take part of. We want to be able to help folks not only when they are in the United States but also on their journey to the USA. To think that by simply giving out water you can save lives is what inspired us to pursue this opportunity. We applied in hopes of getting accepted
to help out this great cause, a week later on the 8th of February we got our confirmation to attend the alternative spring break during the days of March 15-22.


At this point we are all thinking of preparation! We need to find out many of things, but one main thing that is holding us back is funding! Funding is highly needed for this project. According to the No More Deaths website, we'd need about $2575 for all of us, and that is not including car rental. We need help fundraising for that fee and also transportation. Our organization is hoping to raise funds and apply to some grants in hope of making our mark. Please help us raise as much as we can to make this possible
