Chelsea Weaver Equestrian Fund

Donation protected
This fund has a new title but the goal is still to help a Foster child named Kaitlin who resides at Palmer Home, a children's home to ride in Judge My Ride clinics and create and equestrain experince for her that  heretofore has only been a dream.  This fund is now named in the memory of an incredibly talented student of Rob Gage's who passed away at only 13 years of age in a tragic car accident.  Her name was Chelsea Weaver.   With the permission of her family,  we have changed the name of  this fund in her memory. Fittingly Chelsea's mother was the first to donate to help this young girl, Katilin realize her dreams. Her daughter Chelsea was a girl who was a rising star in the Hunter Jumper world,  but  even more impressively Chelsea never failed to thank the people around her for the sacrifices they made to make it possible for her to ride and compete.  It is only fitting that part of her legacy would be to  help other equestrians see their dreams come true.  We are working with Chelseas family to see this fund develop as a fund for talented riders, like Katilin and beyond this initial fund drive

Kaitlin is a 17 year Foster child who has lived at a Childrens home in Mississippi since she was only 3 years old.  One of our social media coordinators for Judge My Ride and Style My Ride began a friendly dialogue with her on social media, encouraging her to share her riding pics with our USEF Judges and International riders on JMR.  Though reluctant at first, Katilin got up her courage to share.  In the course of conversing with us, we inquired if she had ever attended one of our clinics.  It was only then she revealed she lived in a children's home and was only able to ride thanks to their small equestrian program, but she doubted the funds or the opportunity could ever be available to make it possible for her to travel to ride with someone like Rob Gage, though it was her dream to do so.  As this story came to light and we shared it with our equestrian friends on social media,  one by one, caring generous people began reaching out to express they were moved by her story too and wanted to do all they could to help make her dream come true.  Our sport is incredibly expensive and so often we forget how incredibly lucky we are to have horses in our lives.  Though the expense of our sport makes it challenging enough,  this girl reminded everyone how blessed they are to be able to not only ride and show,  but have families to love and who support their dreams and aspirations.  Kaitlin did not think she could ever experince the thrill of being coached by someone like Rob Gage, who has achieved so much in the irons himself,  but also as a top showjumping , H/J and equitation coach.  Kaitlin also pours over Carol Dean Porter's crtitiques and dreams of doing a clinic with Carol one day too.   If we can raise enough funds we can make that happen and more, not only for Kaitlin but for other children in foster homes with a passion for riding.  With this campaign we would like to raise enough to get her to Rob's next clinic in Atlanta along with her two guardians.  We would also like to help her get some new attire and equipment and then be able to get her to a clinic with Carol Dean Porter.  If we are really successful,  maybe even get her to a horse show or two. She dreams of experiencing what so many of us take for granted, the opportunity to compete under a top coach and test what she has learned against her peers. Ideally, from here, we would like to develop this fund into a fund that will help foster children who ride and other equestrians in similar situations who have talent dedication and passion, but lack the means for opportunities like these to advance in our sport. The success of this campaign will detemine if we are able to expand this to incorporate the equestrian industry and come up with our own unique program.  Thank you in advance for your donations and for sharing this link.  Please feel free to share your comments below.  We will keep everyone updated as plans develop.

God bless and heartfelt thanks,
