As many of you know, my mother Virginia Rhinesmith has suffered with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for virtually her entire adult life. What is MS? It is an autoimmune disorder that affects the body's ability to communicate with its central nervous system, resulting in many physical and mental symptoms. Things like basic movement and a natural speaking flow have always been a great challenge for my mom for as long as I've known her. Like many other diseases and disorders, MS does not have a cure, and many of the medications/treatments available offer some relief, but are very expensive.
Over the last year or two, her health has worsened, making her almost entirely co-dependent on my father's care and the help of weekly visiting medical professionals and a daily caregiver. At this point, they have reached their maximum allotted coverage for care, and have had to pay out of pocket on some very expensive costs, including a recent emergency room trip which revealed that she may have had a mini-stroke. Given these unfortunate facts, our family fears that disaster could be right around the corner, and we want to prepare them with any resources we can, just as you would do for your loved ones.
So we come to you all with the goal of creating a fund that will help cover these expenses when needed, and we truly appreciate any support you can give us! Whether it's donating a few bucks or sharing this page with your friends and family, your help will go a long way toward maintaining and enriching the health of an amazing woman that I'm proud to call Mom!!
