I've been a professional track and field athlete for ten years now and it wasn't until having my twin sons that I realized how important it is to give back to the community and also to set an example of promoting philanthrophy, something the I believe we are all responsible for no matter what degree.
It starts with the youth and I know this because I am a mom. Developing leaders, entrepreneurs, and a harmonious society starts with the children and that's exactly who I'm dedicating my foundation to, the future.
The Lashinda Demus Foundation will encourage kids through specific programs, starting with elementary schools, to learn about and enjoy running. America has the highest rate of obesity and if running is promoted to children I believe the rate would drop tremendously. Secondly, an environment of creativity should be available for younger people to support their ideas and vision for this world. There would be another program for junior high through high school students to encourage entrepreneurial and leadership skills. Lastly, community outreach would be a program. Developing ideas and plans on how to edify downtrodden neighborhoods, putting time and resources back into these neighborhoods creating more opportunities for local residents and better living conditions.
The world can be made a better place one person at a time and The Lashinda Demus Foundation is my tithe to the world. Please help and support the cause! Thank you in advance.
