Help Heal Saffron

Six years ago a coworker told me about a neglected dog in her neighborhood. She was underweight, pregnant, sick and had been abused so badly that she wouldn't even walk upright around people - she scooted along the ground as if to beg for mercy with her submissive position.
So I did what anyone would do, I stepped in, gave her owners a piece of my mind, and convinced them to let me take her home. I named her Saffron after her rusty Chow coloring.
I only had an apartment at that time but it sufficed for a couple of months while we got her healed up and looked for a new place.
Last year we were able to get into a single family house with a big yard for her chase away rabbits and birds and roll around in soft grass. It has been a wonderful year so far and her older years are full of joy and playtime - even if she has to bark at the door until the mailman retreats.
Unfortunately, this past Thursday a Texas thunderstorm tore down a piece of our fence and left some exposed screws and splinters. Neither I nor Saffron were aware this had happened until got so caught up chasing a rabbit that she sprinted right across it and injured her chest very badly.
This is where we need your help. The kind people at the Heart of Texas Veterinian Hospital were able to calm her down and close her wound. Over 100 stitches and a couple dozen staples later she's bandaged and healing. But we need a hand maintaining her care. I'm a college student, and finances are tight. She's going to need a few more visits to have her bandages changed (she's a Chow, so this requires sedation every time) and she's going to need to staples removed by a professional.
Every little bit helps, if you can spare anything, Saffron and I would be very grateful.
