6 New Three-Act One-Actor Plays

Donation protected
Live theatre in the United States cannot exist without the generous support of women and men like you. This is particularly the case when it comes to the production of new theatrical works.

2016 marks the launch of a special live theatre project. In 2016, six all-new three-act plays featuring one actor are slated to hit stages in different locations across the United States. These plays, and their premiere dates, are:

Taking Tea with the Ripper - Feburary 2016
The Hours of Anne - April 2016
The Bonfils Girl - May 2016
La Primera Mujer: An Eva Peron Story - July 2016
Stand Still and Look Stupid - July 2016

Call Me Mrs. Evers  - September 2016

These plays are produced by Act One Productions in conjunction with Theatrix USA. Funds must be raised to pay all of the essential costs of these productions, including set design, props procurement, costume creation and compensation for casts and crews. In short, this project depends upon the success of this GoFundMe campaign. All proceeds from this GoFundMe campaign go directly to these productions.

Once these each of these plays premiere, they will be slated to tour different U.S. cities. If you would like one or another of these shows to come to your town, contact us through GoFundMe.

Taking Tea with the Ripper

Taking Tea with the Ripper takes you through the night in which the Ripper slays his first victim. Taking Tea with the Ripper brings theatre-goers face-to-face with pure evil and unmitigated insanity.

Set to premiere on February 12, Taking Tea with the Ripper stars Paul Escobedo, who won the Best Actor Award at the Colorado Theatre Festival.

The Hours of Anne

This play chronicles the final day in the life of Queen Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and the first to be beheaded. The play focuses on her last hours in the Tour of London. It begins with her on the block and the remarkable speech she gave at that time. An honorable and heroic character, the play includes flashbacks to her life as she ponders her last moments.

The Bonfils Girl

Helen Bonfils should be a legend in Denver – and the nation – considering her life’s accomplishments; which included becoming the first woman president of the Denver Post and later chair of the board, she built churches and hospitals, and she established the Belle Bonfils Blood Bank. She even established the Bonfils Memorial Theatre in Denver and performed in, produced, and managed several theatre productions. By all accounts, she should be famous; but, unfortunately she is not. She is actually not at all well known in Denver and no one really knows here anywhere else. This is her story.

La Primera Mujer: An Eva Peron Story

In recent years, serious historians have reexamined the life of former Argentine First Lady Eva Peron. This play tells the true story of Evita Peron, a story that is markedly different from the one told by Andrew Lloyd Webber in his iconic musical, "Evita."

Call Me Mrs. Evers

This play is about Myrlie Evers, the widow of civil rights leader Medgar Evers; who was murdered in 1963 by a member of the White Citizens' Council. After her husband's murder, she began her career as a civil rights activist and eventually became the chairperson of the NAACP.

Stand Still and Look Stupid

Iconic silver screen star Hedy Lamarr was told to "stand still and look stupid" throughout the course of her career. However, what very few people realize is that Hedy was a genius. When not on a sound stage, Hedy Lamarr was an inventor. She is credited with developing the concepts that underpin WiFi and related technologies. She came up with a better system of detecting torpedoes and German U-Boats underwater. She even designed a more functional facial tissue box.
