BU Concrete canoe team

Donation protected
We are Bradley University’s Concrete Canoe team. Concrete canoe is a part of a major conference held by the American Society of Civil Engineers. It is essentially how it sounds, we design, build and assemble a canoe out of a lightweight concrete. The objective for all of this is to build a boat that can float and be raced. You may be thinking, why would you build a boat out of concrete? The answer is simple, it’s for our education.

The learning and hands on experience that comes from this competition is immense. This competition gives us a chance to use the knowledge we’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to a relevant project.  We learn so much about concrete and teamwork. It takes a lot of people and knowledge to build a canoe out of concrete, so the learning curve is enormous.

As you can imagine this is an expensive endeavor. We compete against many major universities in the Midwest. Our competitors have budgets ranging from several thousands of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. To properly compete against these power houses we are in need of monetary donations to purchase supplies, materials, and equipment.

Your help would be greatly appreciated as it gives us the fighting chance we want and deserve. It will also help us gain the knowledge and experience that we crave. The minimum donation we ask is $5 but every little bit helps enormously and will make our jobs as students, who are trying their hardest to compete and learn, easier. Thank you for taking the time to read this article and if you make a donation thank you very much and if you can’t donate then please share it so we can get the word out. It means a lot to all of us here at Bradley University. Thank you for helping us achieve our full potential.
