Project Hands Up-Building Fund

Friends of the Elderly Non-Profit Foundation t/a FOTE Community Outreach is a program designed to help those in need.  Due to the changing demographics and problematic flooding in our area we have had to cease the transitional housing program services.  However due to increase of working homeless families in need of housing we are seeking funds to relaunch our transitional housing program.  Funds secured will be utilized to purchase apartment buildings or purchase land and build multiple small homes (tiny houses) to help families re-establish themselves while providing a safe and stable living environment for their children. Families that are seeking housing are currently living in hotels, with other family members or staying from place to place with no home to call their own.  Their children suffer from being shuffled from place to place, while their schooling suffers.  Poor academic scores and high absenteeism trends those student without a stable home.  It is our goal to end this cycle.  FOTE provided Transitional Housing from 1991 to 2010 with a 78% success rate of families remaining self sufficient after completing our 1-2 year housing program.  Once our building fund goal is achieved we can again help those families with transitional housing, budgeting and referral services for placement after they complete our housing program.  Familes meet with a Case Manager to ensure that family goals are achieved, while preparing them for independent living.
