Family Medical & Financial Support

Donation protected
My wife, Pam, lost her job in October, 2017.  She is 62 Years old. She had been out of work since May 2017 as a result of her Short-Term Memory Loss, and other Medical issues.

With her job loss went our family Health Benefits.

We were paying $ 514 each month out-of-pocket until last month. The monthly rate under the Cobra Health Plan is over  $ 1,400 per month.

If you have any ideas or suggestions on managing this high Health coverage, we would be most welcome.

Over the past 18 months, and increasingly over the last year, my wife's serious Medical issues have gotten worse. The Medical Bills from Hospitals, Treatments, Doctor's, Specialists, Scans, MRI's, Labwork, Prescriptions, are overwhelming and growing daily.

This surge of new bills, and loss of Income is compounding an extremely demanding pre-existing financial situation.

I'm Bob, and I have been out of the job market since August of 2015.

Since that time, I have been Self-Employed and driving Full Time for Uber and Lyft 60-70 hours per week to augment our income and stay afloat.

Numerous Recruiters, Job Interviews, Online Applications have yielded nothing in the way of Full Time Employment prospects.

Our 3 Children, ages 19-23, live with us.

We are in dire financial need with only my Limited Income at this point to support my family.

How Did We Get To This Point?

We're a Family of Five.

My wife, Pam, and I have been married 33 years.  We have three adopted children ages 19 to 23 living with us.

Through 2005, I was employed by two companies for over 25 years.

During that time, my wife and I managed to begin our 401K Retirement and College Savings accounts, and stayed on top of our financial obligations. As well, we were able to travel to China and Korea to adopt our first two infant children and an older child from the Philippines.

On March 1st, 2006, our world turned upside down.

Following several days of rapidly increasing weakness and immense pain, I collapsed, was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, and admitted to the ICU.

I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre’ Syndrome, a neurological, life threatening rare medical condition.

Paralyzed from the neck down, I was eventually able to navigate in a wheelchair, and with extensive therapy, learned how to walk again over a 9-month period.

Throughout the remainder of 2006, our debt increased and we began to tap into our family Savings/Retirement funds.

Finally, due to our declining financial situation, I was forced to ignore the advice of my Neurologist  and I returned to Full-Time employment. Among several residual effects of Guillain-Barre’, each day produced overwhelming fatigue.  The fatigue factor lasted for years.

The global economic downturn beginning in 2008, coupled with a steady reduction of spending in my line of work, resulted in periods of unemployment in which our debt increased and our savings was further eroded.

Over the past 12 years, we've  exhausted our 401K's, Retirement/Savings/College Funds. We’ve been trying to manage a worsening financial situation for years, and now we’re in a deep financial crisis.

The toll on our family is beyond words.

Your Support is very much appreciated !

Love

Bob & Pam
