Save Iko's leg!

Hello friends! My name is Richard, I am a college student in Boone, NC. This is my new friend Iko, a pitbull-lab mix. He was found as a stray by a friend and I took him in so they wouldn't take him to the shelter. We think he was hit by a car before coming to us. He cannot walk on his back right leg, and the vet has told us that he has a dislocation which will require surgery of over a thousand dollars. He is in a lot of pain and the alternative to this surgery is amputation. I am working as much as possible while also in school right now, and as many have surely experienced it is very tough to find this kind of extra money between tuition, rent, and everything else. Any help at all would be appreciated beyond measure! He really is the sweetest dog and I would love to be able to give him the healthy life he deserves. Thank you all again!
