Harley's Surgery

Porter Fire Department Search and Rescue Dog Harley is in need of your support. Harley is a 5 ½ year old German Shepard that has worked with the Porter Fire Department for the last 3 ½ years. He is also a member of Porter County Search and Rescue and Indiana Department of Homeland Security, District 1 Ground Search Team. Since Harley's implementation he has responded to many missing person cases in Porter County, Indiana and across the Region. Most recently spending 4 days in Gary, Indiana looking for a 21 your old disabled female who went missing with her 2 year old nephew.



Harley now needs your help. Harley has a form of Dysplasia in his front elbow. This will require surgery with a cost up to $3,500. Without out this corrective surgery, his leg will become severely arthritic and eventually lose its use. With surgery Harley will be able to return to active duty as a Search and Rescue dog and live a healthy life. He currently has an appointment at "Veterinary Specialty Center" for Monday, October 19th. If everything goes as planned he will have surgery that night. We will not know his recovery time until that date.
