Help Protect Our Rhino

Thank you for reading this.

We are two former students from South Staffordshire College, Rodbaston Campus. We are determined to educate, inspire and conserve wild Rhino by raising awareness and funds for anti-poaching equipment and efforts.

Currently some of the most recognisable and charismatic creatures on our planet, the Rhino, are suffering and are at a very real risk of extinction.  The only reason these beautiful animals are being destroyed is for their horn, which is wrongly believed to have medicinal properties. The iconic symbol of the Rhino is now the greatest threat to their survival.

In early 2015, we were lucky enough to have the chance to visit South Africa as students. During an unforgettable ten days our eyes were opened by the people we met.  We experienced the intense high of seeing the real and wild Africa but also felt an extreme, soul crushing low.

We were faced with stories and images we’d never seen before...

Previous to visiting, we all knew Rhino were in trouble, but we never realised quite how close to disaster things really are. The people we spoke to and others like them put their lives on the line every day to conserve and protect their cherished animals. Despite threats to their safety, long gruelling hours and sleepless nights of worry they never give up hope that one day the bounties will be removed from above the innocent Rhino’s heads.

The statistics are shocking. Since 2009, over 6000 Rhino poaching’s have been fatal. As we looked at those images we could only imagine how the Rhinos last few moments had been spent; the pain, the adrenaline, the smell of blood, legs moving as fast as they could, running and running, lungs burning. Collapsing. Horn hacked off. Left to die.

We promised that we would do whatever we could to help, not only the Rhino we had been lucky enough to see, but each individual still living under threat of this barbaric trade.

So far we have climbed Mount Snowdon via the Watkin path and completed The Great Midlands Fun Run. This year, we are participating in the Inflatable5k assault course challenge on 21st May 2017.

We continue to support Mankwe Wildlife Reserve and have previously donated to Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage and The Rhino Orphanage.

Thank you for your kind donations and your continued support.
