Tyrone McGraw Cancer Treatment

Many of you know Tyrone McGraw.  An amazing young man - high school valedictorian, star athlete, proud Stanford alum and dedicated public servant.  Unfortunately as many of you also know, in 2014, Tyrone was diagnosed with cancer, and he underwent surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy for a rare type of tumor that ran the entire length of his neck. For every 500,000 people, only one will develop this type of tumor in the spinal cord. Because of the location and size, it could not be removed surgically. However, the various treatments did shrink the tumor slightly.

However, recently Tyrone's condition has gotten worse.  Over the past year, he has seen a dramatic decline in his abilities to use his hands, arms and legs.  At this point the situation has deteriorated to the point that Tyrone is a quadriplegic.   Recently, he was hospitalized for two months after a bad fall. And, a day after being discharged from the hospital, Tyrone learned that he would, once again, need to undergo chemotherapy because his tumor is once again growing.

While Tyrone has received tremendous support from family, friends and particularly his amazing girlfriend Mayte, the current situation has come with some additional pressures and we're reaching out to all of you for help. Currently, Tyrone requires 24 hour medical care. Although his insurance covers a lot, his medical expenses are rapidly increasing - caregiving services, COBRA costs, power chair etc.

We've set the goal of $50,000. We're asking everyone to help contribute and also distribute this to your networks so that we can help to raise the necessary funds for Tyrone to be able to keep receiving top quality medical care.
