The Pink Bus. There's no 'I' in BUS, just US.

What is The Pink Bus?

Short drive: It's a bus that is pink. It is a non-profit organization helping feed families in need.

Longer drive: We blur the lines by asking, 'What is essential?' During Covid, we have conducted very serious research (not by real scientists or anything) and found out that mental nourishment is just as important as food we eat. Food for thought? I know. I am just so funny. So basically, The Pink Bus has this little bit of a big (oxymoron) mission: "Rollin' to a stop, to curb hunger."

Clearly, I like puns.

Seriously though. For real this time. Hunger can affect your own family members, your neighbor, or even your friend at school. For children, food insecurity is particularly devastating.... research (like real research this time) shows an association between food insecurity and delayed development in young children; risk of chronic illnesses like asthma and anemia; and behavioral problems like hyperactivity, anxiety and aggression in school-age children. So one day (three years ago) I decided to buy an old bus, fix it up, and do something about food insecurity locally here, in Albuquerque.

A community of very kind people help run the bus.

There is no 'I' in the bus, but there is 'US.'

We are blurring the lines of needs vs wishes this year with our first ever 'Giving Tree!' We had 81 children submit their Christmas wishes. A few wish for tablets, while some asked only for socks and shoes. A basketball, art supplies, a blanket. One mother asked for a few necessities for her new born baby.

The goal is currently at 58% completed! We need your help to make it 100%! You can go to this signup link https://signup.com/go/ywgnUWh and choose a child to sponsor, or you can donate here on this Go Fund Me Campaign, and we will take care of shopping, and choosing a child for you!

Any, and all funds that we raise over the Giving Tree wishlist will go towards food for families facing food insecurities this holiday season, and into the new year.

A glimmer of hope. I think that is what The Pink Bus community is gifting out. You can be part of this community today, right now by helping fund for food, and gifts to those in need. To those who need a glimmer of hope.

With gratitude,
Sarah Love

In December of 2020 The Pink Bus earned a humanitarian award from Joline Krueger with the Albuquerque Journal called 'Angels Among Us'... and this year 2021 was contacted again for a special 'Angels Among Us' feature. ::cue the tears:: I am grateful and humbled by the community that continues to carry this non-profit organization.
