The Dalles 10u Babe Ruth Fastpitch Champs!

First of all, let me begin by saying this, our goals are lofty. They are indeed daunting as well. All funds granted will go to fund airfare, room and board, and transportation to and from the field. We would love to be able to fund the team entirely, that is our ultimate goal.
This past weekend, The Dalles National 10u Team won the regional Babe Ruth Fastpitch Tournament, earning the top honors for the Northwest Region that encompasses Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and British Columbia- more importantly earning the regional spot to compete in the 35th Babe Ruth Fastpitch World Series in Treasure Coast, Florida!
It was amazing to sit in the stands and witness the culmination a season or hard work of some amazing little athletes. But it was more than that, it was witnessing good sportsmanship between teams, it was celebrating every hard hit as ferociously as every strike out. It was seeing the girls lift each other up, even when things didn't go as planned. It was cheering for girls who only weeks before had competed against each other, just as though they had been playing on the same all star team all season long. Some of the girls were lucky enough to have the chance to play travel ball together and earning the 10u C USA Softball State championship weeks before. But regardless of what city league team they played for, or if they had played travel ball or not, these girls came together as one on the field for what they believed would be a final weekend of hard fought (and won) ball of the season.
Together they earned the chance of a lifetime, leaving us (their parents) less than two weeks to raise enough funds to fly them to the opposite corner of the country to extend their season just a little bit longer.
The Dalles is not large, nor is it a rich community. Trying to secure plane tickets and lodging this close to a major trip is not cheap. Our town is not rich, nor is it full of huge corporations that can easily bankroll a trip of this magnitude. We rely on the people of our community who believe in our girls, in our youth, in youth sports, in giving healthy activities to a community of children where the options are often less than bountiful.
If you've taken the time to read this far, thank you. Seriously, from the bottom of our hearts. We hope to make our deadline. We hope to work as hard for our girls to grant them this opportunity that they have worked so hard to earn.
