As we announce the postponement of Fisherman's Village Music Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we also acknowledge that we'll likely have to cancel the rest of our events for the remainder of spring and summer. The larger events we produce between May and September are what covers our expenses for the entire year. These events are also what allow us to put on smaller showcases and events throughout the year, that either break even or lose money in an effort to pay touring artists and local artists their share.
In short, Everett Music Initiative will likely be unable to produce any large scale events for 2020 and any donations you're able to make will go to support the organization and the team. In the eight years of operations, EMI has never made a community ask and has used ticket sales and sponsorships to fund 100% of the events and programs. It's with humbleness and humility that we come to the community and ask you to help support us get through this time.
Since 2012, the Everett Music Initiative has produced, promoted or partnered on over 400 events, creating much-needed recreation and nightlife for Everett and the North Puget Sound. This work has taken a strong commitment from Founder Ryan Crowther and a rich collective of passionate teammates, hundreds of volunteers and a mountain of community support.
In nearly eight years, events we've produced or partnered on have brought over 250,000 people into Everett, creating an economic impact of $20 million into our city. Our events have been featured in Paste Magazine, Pitchfork, Seattle Met as well as Seattle Times, KING 5, Evening Magazine, KEXP and dozens of other media outlets.
Beyond any metric or media mentions we could share, what we're most proud of is the incredible community we've partnered to create around music in Everett and the memories and late nights we've shared together.
In the same way that we've come together during the best times, we know we're all here together in the tough times. We appreciate this community more than you'll ever know and look forward to celebrating on the other side of this.
