Friends 4 Andrei Bostan Violinist

Andrei and his family lost their home and all their possessions in the Santa Rosa fire this October 2017. Andrei had been with us in Europe, playing violin for our Viva la Música concert tour. His wife Rozalia had to confront this fire and loss on her own, with only the support of her adult son who uses a wheelchair. In fact, she had to get both herself and her son Emanuel to safety and abandon the special van just purchased to safely transport Emanuel. To add to their challenges, Rozalia was admitted to the hospital with a gall bladder attack on October 16.

We are Gail Whipple, of Belmont California and Pam Nissley, of San Francisco. We we were on tour with Andrei in the Baltics on October 10th. While waiting for a concert in a church, we  overheard him on the phone comforting his wife. It was clearly an unusual phone call, and when we asked him about his distress, he told us the story, and then he had to leave our tour early to go home and face this terrible loss with his family. But we had to do something to help!

We started this gofundme page for those who would like to contribute to Andrei's family and their recovery from this fire. While our contributions cannot change what they have to go through, they can perhaps lighten the load and be used for imminent expenses of hotel, meals, healthcare, clothing, personal needs and rebuying household goods as one must to recover from such a catastrophe.

I spoke with Andrei on October 16th and he is very touched with the support of this campaign. As of October 17 he is now named the beneficiary according to gofundme rules and I believe he will receive the bulk of these funds 2-5 days from now, but if more donations roll in, those will be released to him as well!

I will write an update each time I hear from Andrei. In the meantime, thank you so much for your generosity.
