SMS Robotics Heading Back to Worlds!

They're going to the World Championship AGAIN!

2021-2022 School Year

Two years ago, our after-school robotics club had seven student members who met twice a month to explore robotics engineering and programming. In the 2022-2023 school year, our club expanded to 46 students, and for 2024-2025, 56 students joined us!

2022-2023 School Year

Five student groups competed for the first time ever in the VEX IQ Robotics season with two teams making it to states and one team advancing to compete against teams from over 50 countries around the world at the 2023 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas.

This Year!

In just our second year of competition, three teams made it to the finals at states, and one team with three returning members from last year finished second in the state championship final round. They won the Design award, which led qualifying for the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championships. "The Design Award recognizes a team's ability to document and explain their Engineering Design Process via an Engineering Notebook and Team Interview." (Robotics Education & Competition Foundation).
