Save Kita with Cancer Surgery

Donation protected

I adopted Kita Kiyoshi  , a 5-year-old Akita, from a rescue in July 2020. She’s quickly become my best friend and pandemic buddy. She’s so easygoing and calm, she gets along with everyone- human and canine.

Ever since I adopted her, she’s had digestion issues and was diagnosed with EPI,  which means she needs enzymes and monitoring for the rest of her life in order to digest her food.

Less than two months after I adopted her, I took her to her weekly vet visit for B-12 shots and when I got home, she started throwing up. Eventually I found a big red sore in her mouth and we got a biopsy surgery.

She was diagnosed with oral plasmacytoma, a form of mouth cancer. The vet said these cancers almost always stay in the mouth but they do go deep into the jaw and teeth, causing pain and difficulty eating.

With complete surgical removal, including removal of teeth, Kita will be cured. We are lucky that this type of cancer does not spread to other areas of the body.

Unfortunately I’ve already spent thousands of dollars on her vet bills to treat her EPI and special diet, and I do not have the funds for surgery. I lost my NYC events business income due to covid and am trying to make ends meet.

The surgery costs $3,900, the vet has quoted to us. We humbly ask for any help you can give - $5, $10 - to get Kita the surgery she needs to be cured and live the rest of her young life without pain.

Thank you so much for any support or sharing.
