Help Rebuild the Chapter House!

JAN 2021 UPDATE 

While there were various rumors over the past few years that our beloved Chapter House might yet rise from the ashes, I must report that the legal entity was formally dissolved in November, 2020. There will be no CH2. 

There were many building delays in the aftermath of the fire, and the property eventually changed hands.  The sale was followed by a three-year construction process completing in 2018. The Chapter House owners were unable to reach an agreement with the new landlords (and yet sadly the space still sits empty). For these reasons, there was nowhere to distribute the proceeds of this fundraiser.

GoFundMe is unable to issue refunds after 90 days. In order to put the donations to good use, I've established a fund in the name of "Friends of the Chapter House" to provide COVID relief to local Ithaca restaurants.  The funds will be distributed within the framework of The Ithaca Small Business Resiliency Fund, administered by Alternatives Federal Credit Union. 

Thanks again for all your support, and I'm glad we're still able to do a little bit of good.

Early this morning, The Chapter House was lost to a devastating fire.  This was so much more than a pub--it was an Ithaca institution. To countless regular customers and former students, it was a second home. 

I am a former bartender (~1998-2000) and a Cornell alum. The Chapter House paid a good part of my tuition. Many of the staff were the same folks who ran the place almost 20 years ago, and this was their livelihood. This is a crushing loss for them, and a truly sad day for many generations of people who created incredible memories beneath those mugs.
