Big Hearted Cop has Heart Attack

On March 4, 2015 my 43 year old husband, a police officer, suffered a severe heart attack while at work.  The type of heart attack is commonly referred to as The Widow Maker.  There was significant damage from the heart attack, and we are still unsure how much heart function he will regain.  He is currently off work and must have cardiac rehab.  We were just informed that his department does not have a "light duty" option and has informed us that he cannot return until his doctor releases him for regular duty.

Initially, we thought that co-workers would be allowed to donate days for him to use once he ran out of vacation and sick leave days, but his employer has informated us that this is not an option.  As a result, there will be unpaid time off work, as well as significant medical expenses.

I would like for my husband to be able to focus on getting better so that he can return to serving the community he loves rather than worrying about money and medical bills.

He is a cop with a big heart...right now, however, that heart is still mending.  Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
