Phee's New Peepers
UPDATE 3/23/13: Thank you so much to all our supporters! We have exceeded our goal and have enough money to cover the entire surgery and aftercare! If you still would like to help, please consider another dog in need of medical treatment. Like our friend, Essie, who needs a whole lot of loving care to get healthy again! You can support Essie and other dogs like her through SNORT (Short Noses Only Rescue Team) at http://www.snortrescue.org/

Phoenix was rescued from the euthanasia list at NY Animal Control & Care on December 2, 2012. His condition was nothing less than shocking. He was not just emaciated "“
he had lost most of his fur, had a swollen, infected eye, and was
unable to hold his bowels. He was truly at death's door.
He was diagnosed with diabetes and KCS (dry eye) "“ both of which will
require daily treatment for the rest of his life, but are completely
manageable. That day, his foster mom began giving him insulin shots
twice daily and started treating his eye for infection.
Phee (as he's affectionately known) has made a remarkable recovery during his 3 months in foster care, but now has developed diabetic cataracts and is quickly going blind.
He is scheduled to have cataract removal surgery on March 26 which will cost a total of $3,800. Unfortunately, our rescue has several urgent surgeries for other fosters and our budget is stretched too thin to cover this surgery.
If you are able to help in any way, Phee would be forever grateful.
