Peggy Fort's Fight Against ALS

Donation protected

Family & Friends of Peggy Fort: Here is an excellent opportunity to donate to help with Peggy Fort’s long-term care as she courageously battles ALS. 100% of all funds raised will go directly to Peggy for much-needed caregivers and other essential equipment and medical expenses.

Peggy has always been a great athlete. Prior to diagnosis, she ran 23 marathons as a charity runner– all of which was to raise money for cancer research. Throughout her career, she raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for many worthwhile charitable organizations and always prioritized giving back to the community.

Peggy has owned a marketing and consulting firm in Newport Beach for over twenty years, helping promote restaurants, non-profit organizations, and local businesses. A big part of her business philosophy has been to give back to the community by organizing, participating, and financially supporting charity events. Peggy feels this is one of her biggest accomplishments. It makes her so happy to be able to help others. Peggy’s long-standing commitment to her community was recently recognized by the State of California when Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris named Peggy the 2021 Woman of Distinction for the City of Newport Beach.

In 2021, at age 54, Peggy began having difficulty running and walking. After several months of seeing various doctors, her life changed when she was diagnosed with ALS. There is no cure for ALS. It takes away the freedom to walk, talk, run, laugh, hug, eat and breathe.

Despite the diagnosis, Peggy remains courageous and hopeful. As explained by Peggy: “The day I was diagnosed was the shock of my life. I have always been so healthy and full of energy. Life is much more of a challenge now. I have always loved a challenge and am determined not to let ALS define my life.”

Peggy now has great difficulty speaking, eating, using her hands, and walking, which is causing her to cut down on the workload for her business – thus, fewer clients and less income. Also, Peggy wants to focus her talents and efforts on launching her foundation, The ALS Hope Zone, to fight ALS and raise money for research to find a cure for this debilitating disease.

For Peggy to continue to fight and have the energy to beat ALS she needs daily in-home caregivers. Unfortunately, this expense is not covered by insurance. Costs for daily caregivers can be $100,000 or more per year. We want to help Peggy pay for her in-home medical care needs and other specialized medical equipment she will need as her ALS disease continues to progress.

Peggy will be very grateful for any donation you can make toward her needs. Please share this link with family and friends.
