Education for EVD Orphans

Donation protected
The current outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) has had devastating health, economic, and social consequences across West Africa.  Children have been particularly affected.  In Liberia alone, EVD has orphaned nearly 2000 children, many of whom had cared for sick family members and survived the disease themselves.  These children are living in interim health facilities and transitional homes or with other families in their communities.  In addition to the loss of their family members, the children are faced with potential stigma associated with surviving EVD.

Through a collaboration with Refuge Place International/Liberia and the Nancy Galvani Foundation, members of the Center for Infectious Disease Modeling and Analysis at Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) have committed to providing care packages to not only meet some basic needs of the children but also offer them comfort and possibly even fun.  The packages will be prepared by Dr. Mosoka Fallah, Executive Director of Refuge Place International, and distributed to over 100 orphans monitored by the organization.

Please consider giving to our cause.  Your donation will go towards personal care products, school supplies, and toys for children whose primary caregivers were victims of EVD.

Some items that will be included...

- stickers
- crayons
- paper
- stuffed animal
- wristband
- shampoo
- soap
- towel
- flip flops
- school books
