Nora Hart - Medical & Travel Expenses & Updates:)

Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for Nora’s medical and her family’s travel expenses due to her rollover accident that happened on Saturday, April 23.

The accident:
Nora was coming home from a wonderful weekend with her “bonus family,” as she calls them. They were supposed to go to Casper for a church conference but the weather canceled those plans, so they stayed local and went with plan b…bowling with a local church group, dinner and a movie and of course a sleepover. When she left their house she grabbed some chicken nuggets and headed home like normal…

Something distracted her (she actually listened and was not on her phone while driving!!) either inside or outside the vehicle, don’t know yet.  She went to the shoulder, over-corrected and her truck rolled a few times, ejecting her in the process. No witnesses and no one else involved.

A wonderful woman, Marley, a medical student, found her and got her the help she needed.

Amazingly her ONLY injury is to her head, but it’s a doozie…her scalp was partially degloved and she had a subdural hematoma. This is classified as a TBI(traumatic brain injury).

She was flown to Billings Clinic ER where she underwent a surgery to relieve the swelling on her brain. (Decompressive craniectomy is a neurosurgical procedure in which part of the skull is removed to allow a swelling brain room to expand without being squeezed.)

The journey forward:

This entire time she has been unconscious but she did not loose her airway (she is on a ventilator to protect her airway) and has been responsive physically to pain and discomfort. Her movements are purposeful and the neuro exams are promising.

As of today (4/26/22), she is making progress to be removed from the ventilator. She is barely sedated, mainly for her comfort along with pain meds. Basically, she is sleeping while her body heals. And we wait…very patiently.

All things are positive for her outcome. She will need ongoing care of course we just don’t know the details yet. Most likely she will eventually go to a TBI facility, probably in Colorado. But that’s all in the air right now…one day at a time.

She is loved by many all over the US and we love you all!

I have always been one to say “it takes a village…” because we cannot and are not meant to do life alone especially when things are hard. Community and family/friends support is what makes this world go round. We appreciate everything, from a text to a hug to a donation to a prayer, etc.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️
