MUG was the first city newsletter, created in black and white on paper in 1992, and has remained true to its original mission: scope out the best, most interesting stuff in the widest range of subjects possible, and generally celebrate all things New York City.
We spend dozens of hours every week researching the city to give you the most interesting, unpredictable, useful and fun ways to engage with New York. We're proud to bring you the joe's nyc photographs of Joe Holmes; the weekly picks by the skint of free and cheap things to buy, see, do and eat in New York; drawings by Jason Polan of Every Person in New York ; and the contributions by MUG readers in the MUG Flickr Pool, which now contains over 11,000 images.
There is no advertising on MUG and since day one our policy has been clear: no money, gifts, swag or anything for editorial inclusion. No thank-you gifts. Nothing. When we say MUG is 100% reader supported, we mean it.
Still, we have to keep the lights on and that's why we count on you, readers who are as passionate about this city as we are, to contribute to MUG in 2019—our 27th year!
